Lambda Legal pursues impact litigation: We select cases that will have the greatest impact in protecting and advancing the rights of LGBT people and those with HIV. Our docket ordinarily includes about 65 open cases at a time. We also support many important cases by filing friend-of-the-court (amicus) briefs.

Lambda Legal case in which a legally married same-sex couple in Iowa gave birth to a stillborn baby and was issued a death certificate by the Iowa Department of Public Health with one of the mother’s names removed with correction fluid.
